Daily checkins are a hassle, but they did give me a sense of where my work was going when I did them at the Recurse Center, so I'm going to try doing them here for a bit.
Today:
- Worked on Departing. Tried shortening the guitar part. Changed the cello to a French horn, which sounds warmer.
- Wrote some of the D&D recap.
- Had a conference call with the school speech therapist. Got some handy tips; found out the guy has done really well with the social speech practice.
- Chatted with a young person from the Recurse Center about contracting and what computer science was like in the '90s.
- Reread Chapter 2 of the Puckette book and did 75% of the exercises.
- Went to the study group for said book. Could not get the Pure Data sound to go through Zoom. We did have fun figuring out a couple of the exercises together, but we're starting to have doubts about this being the best book to work off of. A new person suggested we actually talk about our understanding of the concepts from the chapter, which we'll do next time. I tried it in the previous meeting, but I got crickets, so I backed off. (I don't really know how to run these things.) The meeting over by 20 minutes, so I guess it's at least engrossing, but I'll set a timer next time.
