The weird confluence of factors that lead us to buy a bean bag that is expensive as an IKEA loveseat:
1. Due to growth of son, we now need more lounging space than is provided by a KLIPPAN in our living room.
2. And we probably should've had more comfy seating in the first place for guests. We usually vacate the couch and sit on chairs, but if there's guests from multiple parties, they're forced to sit together on the KLIPPAN or one guest sits on the KLIPPAN and others sit on chairs. (We at least have a ton of chairs.)
3. Serious couches that go beyond the IKEA and West Elm level of quality are two or more orders of magnitude more expensive. That leap is still hard for us to make.
4. Serious couches all seem huge and intended for vast suburban single-family homes.
5. We are never sure if a couch will fit up our narrow-ish Massachusetts stairwell. We had a serious wooden frame couch (a hand-me-down from my parents), but had to abandon it when moving into this apartment.
6. There's an undoableness to a decision to get and move in a couch that's expensive and large.
